Classification is one of the most common AI tasks in enterprise automation. The model reads an input and assigns it to a category: this email is a complaint, inquiry, or spam; this ticket is a billing issue, technical problem, or cancellation request.
Classification drives routing. Once something is categorized, the system knows where to send it and what to do with it. A bank's operations team that receives thousands of emails per day and routes each one to the right department automatically — through an AI classification agent — is doing at scale what previously required manual sorting by a dedicated team.
